Geneva, Switzerland
Welcome to Geneva!
We will start our tour by exploring the most famous symbol of the city — the Geneva Fountain (Jet d’Eau), which is one of the tallest fountains in the world. The fountain is located on Lake Geneva and shoots a water column up to 140 meters high. From here, we can enjoy a beautiful view of the city and the lake.
Next, we will head to the historic district of Vieille Ville, which is the heart of the city. Here, we will see many historical buildings, narrow streets, beautiful squares, and shops where you can buy souvenirs and traditional Swiss watches.
Then, we will visit the Cathedral of Saint Peter (Cathédrale Saint-Pierre), which is one of the main landmarks of the city. This is one of the largest churches in Switzerland, which was built in the 11th century and dedicated to Saint Peter. The cathedral offers a stunning view of the city.
After that, we will visit the City Hall (Hôtel de Ville), which is located on the Place du Bourg-de-Four and is one of the oldest buildings in the city. The City Hall was built in the 15th century and served as a meeting place for the city government.
Finally, we will head to the International Square (Place des Nations) where the United Nations building in Geneva is located. This is the place where many important international conferences and negotiations take place. Here, we can see the iconic sculpture «Broken Chair,» which symbolizes the desire for peace and the fight against the use of violence.
After lunch, we can visit the St-Jean district, which is famous for its medieval atmosphere. Here, you can take a stroll through the narrow streets full of souvenir shops and cozy cafes. The St-Pierre Church and the St-Jean Cathedral are particularly beautiful, as they have retained their ancient appearance.
Next, we should head to Lake Geneva, where you can take a walk along the pedestrian promenade and enjoy the view of the Alps. You can also take a short boat ride on the lake and admire the beauty of the city from the water.
At the end of the day, you can visit one of the most famous symbols of Geneva — the Jet d’Eau fountain, which is one of the tallest fountains in the world. The fountain is located on the lake and is illuminated at night, creating an impressive view.
