Your day will start in Piazza Luigi Cadorna, where your guide will meet you with a small group. Have comfortable shoes and clothes that cover your shoulders and knees, as many of the churches have a special dress code. You’ll head into town, exploring the inimitable Duomo di Milano along the way.
This Gothic cathedral is the largest church in Italy and the fifth largest in the world, built over nearly six centuries. Huge crowds gathered at this landmark from the very beginning, but with a direct access ticket you’ll completely bypass the queues. Don’t forget to pay respect to one of the world’s largest shopping malls by walking past the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, built in the 19th century.
Then walk directly to the Church of San Maurizio al Monastero Maggiore and on to other equally important landmarks including the Arco della Pace, Sempione Park and the 15th century Sforzesco Castle. At the Church of Santa Maria Presso San Satiro you can enjoy the artwork of the controversial Maurizio Cattelan and the optical illusions of Bramante.
After a short lunch break, visit the UNESCO-listed Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie, where Da Vinci’s The Last Supper is kept. Your ticket will allow you to bypass the crowds to see the famous fresco up close and learn about its restoration.
